Inspection, testing & remedials

Clear findings. Practical next steps.

An inspection should help you understand the installation and the action it needs. We agree the scope, access arrangements and any operational restrictions before the visit. Findings are recorded in the relevant report, with the opportunity to discuss observations and arrange a quotation for remedial work. We can also support planned emergency lighting checks and wider electrical maintenance requirements.

How we can help

Practical support.
Clearly defined scope.

01

Electrical condition reports

Periodic inspection and testing of existing installations, with the agreed extent and any limitations recorded in the report.

02

Remedial works

Investigation and correction of defects identified during inspection, with the relevant verification for work completed.

03

Emergency lighting

Inspection, testing and remedial support for emergency lighting systems, with visit requirements agreed around your premises.

04

Planned electrical maintenance

Scheduled electrical checks and maintenance support for facilities teams and businesses with one or multiple sites.

Electrical condition and maintenance

Understand the findings and plan the work they need.

Agree the purpose and extent of the inspection

An Electrical Installation Condition Report, commonly called an EICR, records findings from the inspection and testing of an existing installation within an agreed scope. Before arranging the visit, it helps to understand why the report is needed, which areas it should cover and what records are available. Previous reports, circuit schedules and information about alterations can provide useful context.

Nottingham-based Aegis works with business owners, property managers and facilities teams, with wider UK visits arranged around the site requirements. If the building is also due to undergo electrical alterations or upgrades, tell us about them so the inspection and any separate installation work can be planned with a clear purpose.

Prepare the premises for inspection and testing

A useful inspection depends on suitable access and an understanding of the equipment in use. Let us know about locked rooms, tenant areas, sensitive equipment, production processes and any restrictions on interrupting power. Access to distribution boards and other relevant equipment should be discussed before the visit, together with any site induction or escort arrangements.

We agree working hours and likely interruptions as part of the programme. Any limitations encountered need to be considered in the reporting, rather than leaving the extent of the visit unclear. For premises planning lighting upgrades or new EV charging, inspection information may also help define the condition of the existing installation before a separate project is scoped.

Keep reporting and remedial work clearly defined

The inspection report and the work required to address its findings are separate stages. Once observations have been recorded, we can discuss what further investigation or remedial work is needed and prepare a quotation for an agreed scope. The photographs on this page provide examples of electrical conditions identified during inspections, helping illustrate the type of detail a site visit can reveal.

For businesses managing several properties, it is useful to keep previous reports and records of completed work together. We can discuss planned visits, emergency lighting checks and electrical maintenance as defined requirements. Our initial commercial energy assessment is a separate service for identifying energy improvement opportunities and does not replace an electrical condition inspection.

Useful to know

Your questions,
answered.

Will the power need to be switched off?

Parts of the inspection and testing require isolation. We discuss likely interruptions and suitable working hours when planning the visit.

Can you carry out remedials following another contractor's report?

Yes. Send us the complete report and any relevant supporting information so we can review the observations and define an appropriate scope.

What should I provide before an inspection?

Previous reports, circuit schedules, installation certificates and details of areas with restricted access are helpful. Let us know about equipment or processes that cannot be interrupted without planning.

Is remedial work automatically included in an EICR visit?

Inspection, reporting and remedial work should be clearly scoped. We can discuss findings and quote for further investigation or corrective work, with any agreed work and associated documentation set out separately.

Can you help plan testing across more than one site?

Yes. Send the site locations, available reports and any deadlines or access restrictions. We can discuss a visit programme and the information needed to scope each premises, including suitable working hours and operational constraints.

Arrange inspection and testing for your site.

Send us the site details and any existing reports. We will help you define the scope and plan a suitable visit.
